Salmon Parks Declaration Feast
On December 3, 2025, at the Salmon Parks Declaration Feast, MMFN members Selena Lord and Norma Johnson, with support from Elder Bill Howard and Salmon Parks CAG members, read the Nuu-chah-nulth translation of the Salmon Parks Declaration. The Declaration builds on the original ha'wiih declaration at Owo̓ sitt̓ sa Creek in 2016 and the Council of Chiefs signing in November 2023. Rooted in MMFN living law and legal processes, this Declaration is part of an ongoing process to keep those laws strong as we hold up the ha'wiih, the muschim, and the ḥaḥahuułi, and Nuu-chah-nulth knowledge, values, and guiding principles in the protected areas we call Salmon Parks.
